In 2021, due to succession planning challenges, I was tasked with divesting two operating companies that I was leading on behalf of our ownership group. I was successful in that endeavor, finding strategic buyers on my own for both businesses.
The experience I gained through this process can now be deployed for companies that find themselves in a similar situation as we were in. The challenge we faced was how to place successful businesses, with a leadership team approaching retirement, on to a new operating and ownership platform that would present a continuing opportunity for growth.

On my desk right now is an opportunity for a US based specialty chemical company facing succession planning challenges, and that is predominantly focused on supplying differentiated ingredients to the Personal Care market, to explore such a platform/ownership change. There may be a near term opportunity for such a candidate company to open a dialog with an EU based company with annual sales exceeding $1 billion seeking the beginning of a US presence that may be in position to provide a new ownership and operating platform for such a candidate company.
I am also aware of one US based differentiated specialty chemical company, with comprehensive analytical and R&D capabilities coupled with multi-site manufacturing locations, in search of modestly sized specialty chemical companies or business segment "carve outs" that would be candidates for acquisition. I know this company very well from over 10 years of commercial engagement and can help you decide if your business is a good fit for them and equally important, if they are a good fit for your business.
